Event Preparation

It is our goal to equip you with the tools you need to make your event a success.

Casting a Vision

Steve Pettit Ministries is committed to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ alongside local churches. Through evangelistic outreach concerts, we have seen God save people, and we have watched the Spirit of God move to convict people of sin and encourage the hearts of believers.

As we prepare for your event, we are praying that God will work through the singing and preaching of the Word of God. We also want to give you all the tools that we can to help you bring in people from your community. Our hope is that the gospel will work in your church and community to save the lost, encourage believers, and build lasting and meaningful connections in your community.

For Reference:

  • Because of technology today, anyone can listen to any song from any artist at any moment. Put in your earbuds, connect to Spotify or Apple Music, search for your artist or song and you are good to go. However, the availability and access to recorded music 24/7 has interestingly created an appetite for a certain kind of music that is not readily accessible – live music! People today love live music.

We have decided to capitalize on that current appetite by intentionally holding live Bluegrass Concerts for the purpose of sharing the Gospel. Why bluegrass? Because it a form of folk music that transcends and is enjoyed by all age groups. Our concerts include 45-60 minutes of traditional and Gospel bluegrass with a Gospel-centered evangelistic message at the end of the concert. The purpose of the concert is to make new contacts with unbelievers, build bridges and share the Gospel with them.

We have found that the Gospel concerts are well attended with many guests coming when the purpose of evangelism is clearly communicated to the church and successful steps are taken by the church to promote the concert well.

Here are key steps to take in promoting the concert.

    1. Communicate and promote the concert as an evangelistic event for your people. This is key! This is a way for the entire church to participate together in the Great Commission. Encourage your people to start inviting guests immediately. Let them know the concert is free and band is outstanding.

    2. Emphasize the attraction of good live music. This is something everyone can enjoy.

    3. Host a dinner before the concert. This is an effective way to encourage your guests to come. If possible, make it a part of your church evangelism budget and provide the meal for free. Otherwise, you can charge a reasonable price for the meal. I would encourage serving a Barbecue dinner if possible. If not, then have a meal the people will enjoy.

    4. Put together promotional material that can be handed out with a personal invitation from your people. Pictures and promotional materials are supplied in a file download on this page.

    5. Promote the concert well on all social media platforms. If you can live stream the concert, then promote the concert on your social media platform. You will be surprised at how many people will watch it online.

    6. Promote the concert among other churches. You will be surprised to find that other churches may be interested in the event.

    7. Have a means to register your guests and follow-up with them through email, texts, or personal.

  • We are trusting in the Lord to supply our needs as we do His work of evangelism.

    • We ask a hosting church or venue for a love offering and to cover our travel expenses.

    • We may also ask for housing and accommodations for the time surrounding your event. Our group consists of a married couple, one young man, two young ladies, and Steve.

Travel expense checks can be received by the team at the time of the event. Love offerings can be sent later or received at the time of the event.
